Composite engineering for the rig of S/Y Aquarius

Solico Engineering was requested to provide the structural engineering of components of this powerful Rondal rig. Since Solico has collaborated with Rondal on many similar structures, this rig is able to push the limits for weights- and thicknesses, once again.

Why are composites used here?

The high strength- and stiffness, in combination with the low weight makes carbon fibre the ideal material for such high-loaded structures. High modulus carbon fiber was used in stiffness driven areas of the mast- and boom, optimizing the weight even further.
