Solico Engineering Helps Bring Greenpower Boats' Cutting-Edge 33ft Catamaran to Life

Solico is excited to announce its role in the development of Greenpower Boats’ innovative 33 ft catamaran, designed to set new benchmarks in the leisure and charter markets. With space for up to 12 guests, this sleek, modern catamaran combines comfort, efficiency, and sustainability, offering a unique experience on the water.

Designed with the needs of the leisure market in mind, the catamaran provides generous living space, featuring a large queen-size double bed and plenty of room for relaxation and entertainment. It’s more than just comfortable—it’s smartly engineered to be exceptionally light and efficient, thanks to its advanced materials and hydrofoil system.

The vessel has an impressive range of 40-70 nautical miles, a cruising speed of 20 knots, and a top speed of 22 knots, making it ideal for both short trips and longer adventures. The use of two closed-circuit water-cooled 80 kW continuous electric motors means that this boat is not only fast but also eco-friendly, offering a quiet, clean ride with minimal environmental impact.

Solico played a key role in the structural design and engineering of the catamaran, focusing on ensuring that it met CE certification (Category B) standards. Our team’s expertise in lightweight composite construction was crucial in developing the hydrofoil, crafted from carbon fiber, to maximize the boat's efficiency and performance on the water.

“We're proud to have supported Greenpower Boats in this exciting project,” said Coen Meerbach, Maritime Business Unit Manager at Solico Engineering. “Our focus was on making sure the boat is as light and efficient as possible while still meeting the strict safety and performance standards required for CE certification. The result is a vessel that not only looks great but is built for high performance and sustainable operation.”

The catamaran’s design is the brainchild of Alfred and Johan Spijkerman, working closely with industry veterans Willem Nieland and Emre. Solico's collaboration on the structural engineering and hydrofoil development was instrumental in bringing their concept to reality.

This vessel is set to make a real splash in the market, offering charter operators and leisure seekers a new option that balances luxury, environmental responsibility, and innovative design.
