Defence

When it comes to (inter)national security, we take no risks. With over 30 years of experience in Defence and Maritime. We still try to surpass ourselves everyday with lightweight and reliable solutions in the smartest way possible.

Composite engineering for Defence

Solico works in a secure environment with screened employees. Our strength lies in our in-depth expertise in the engineering and composites markets. We have a huge multidisciplinary network which enables us to anticipate and think in terms of providing solutions quickly. This experience ensures a fast turn-around time for each project. When required, Solico supports purchasing projects through advice and support, to ensure that the quality remains extremely high.

Our specialisation is composite engineering. At Solico we are a huge fan of composites because we believe that this material offers many advantages to the world of Defence:

  • Composites are lightweight and extremely strong. Therefore, the lightweight solution allows Special Forces to:
    - Carry out an operation faster (faster RHIB, for example).
    - Extend endurance by reducing fuel consumption.
    - Bring more equipment or other material for transport.
  • Composites can be radar transparent: The solution protects a radar without affecting the vision.
  • Composites can be conductors and thus protect parts against EMC radiation.
  • Composites can be made very flexible: shock loads are better absorbed with less damage compared to other materials.
  • Combinations of composites with, for example, aramid have good anti-ballistic properties whilst having a fraction of the weight of conventional protection.

In summary: Composites are very suitable for the optimisation of the performance of Defence vehicles and reduced CO2 emissions. Check all the benefits of composites.

Solico designed multiple improvements to Superrhibs for the Royal Dutch Navy

The Royal Dutch Navy's Superrhibs are exposed to the fiercest of loads. Solico designed multiple improvements to the Superrhibs. This enabled them to deal with the pressures of drug transport interceptions and other tough missions.
